Recently, Refinery29.com published an article about people who are experiencing great results by maintaining a gluten-free diet. Here are a few snippets from three interviews that we found very interesting.
Shawna Foulkes, a brand integration associate, has been gluten-free since 2010. She has experienced health issues that have cleared up since maintaining a gluten-free diet. Additionally, her skin has improved and she has more energy than ever before. Foulkes recommends eating at Thai, Japanese and Mexican restaurants because they are known to be gluten-free friendly.
Megan Mcintyre, a senior beauty editor, has been gluten-free since May 2012. Although Mcintyre is considered somewhat of a newbie, she has experienced benefits from maintaining a gluten-free diet. Since going gluten-free, she hasn’t felt so healthy in years. Normally, after eating a big meal, she would feel weighed down and bloated. Now she has more energy. In addition, she has lost 15 lbs. since going gluten-free. She has also noticed a significant decrease in her frequency of migraine headaches.
Julia Anderson, an associate director of brand integration, has been gluten-free since 2006. Anderson suffers from Celiac disease, so maintaining a Gluten-free diet is a must. She has more energy and feels less sluggish after eating a meal. It has also improved her overall physical and mental health. She advises people not to become gluten-free solely to lose weight because you “more than likely won’t shrink down to a size two”.
Anderson believes that people should go gluten-free for the right reasons. Her favorite gluten-free foods includes: Tate’s Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies, Udi’s Bagels, Lara Bars and Glutino Pretzels.
Have you been thinking about going Gluten-free lately? Here are a few benefits:
  • Gluten-free foods are low in carbohydrates.
  • Reduces your fat and sugar intake.
  • Helps the immune system in some people.
  • Helps in eliminating bloating, gas and diarrhea.
  • Eliminates symptoms of herpetiformis and dermatitis (skin disorder that causes itchy blisters).
In addition, studies have shown that gluten-free diets are effective for people who suffer from anemia, thyroid disease, irritable bowel syndrome, cystic fibrosis and many other health related issues. It is also very beneficial for people who want to lose weight.
